Abstract
First report of Diplodia sapinea on Cedrus libani in Turkey.
Abstract
In July 2017, dieback was observed on branches of a young Cedrus libani. Abundant black pycnidia were observed on dead needles. The causal pathogen was isolated and identified as Diplodia sapinea [Sphaeropsis sapinea] based on morphological, molecular and pathogenicity analyses. The obtained sequences were deposited in GenBank as accession number MH368280 (ITS). This is thought to be the first report of dieback caused by S. sapinea on C. libani in Turkey.
