Abstract

Ivy broomrape (Orobanche hederae) not spontaneous in East Austria.

Abstract

The occurrence of the ivy broomrape (Orobanche hederae) in the botanical gardens of Graz and Vienna provide insufficient evidence that the species belongs to the subspontaneaous flora of East Austria. It is certainly cultivated in Graz, and for Vienna as well the popularity of the species at Botanical Gardens for teaching and research purposes support the idea of active cultivation than the idea of spontaneous distribution. Both occurrences do not justify the classification as neophytic for East Austria.
