Abstract
Basic chemical composition of selected species of exotic wood.
Abstract
The study determines the content of cellulose, lignin, holocellulose and pentosans in samba, wenge and lapacho (ipe) wood. Quantities of particular components in those wood species were compared with quantities of the same components in oak wood. Lignin content in tropical wood species was found to be in the range between 32.21% and 36.80% and was considerably higher than in oak wood.
