First report of cabbage moth, Mamestra brassicae (L.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) attacking kale and knol khol vegetables from Kashmir, India.

Abstract

During the survey and study of important insect pests of vegetable crops carried out in Kashmir Valley in the year 2013-14, the cabbage moth, Mamestra brassicae L. (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) was recorded as a serious pest of kale and knolkhol vegetable crops in most of the surveyed locations. This is the first report of M. brassicae from Kashmir, India. Some observations made on the nature & extent of damage and period of activity of the reported pest have also been incorporated in the paper.
