Abstract

First report of Pectobacterium polaris causing soft rot of potato in Poland.

Abstract

Over 250 isolates that had been collected from potato plants with soft rot symptoms since 1995 in Poland were tested to determine if the presence of Pectobacterium species not currently recorded in the country. Based on physiological, biochemical, molecular and pathogenicity analyses, the presence of P. polaris was recorded. This is thought to be the first report of P. polaris causing soft rot on potato in Poland.
