Abstract Full Text

The potential of new Mediterranean woody plant species for landscape architecture in Slovak towns and cities.

There are real assumption that global climate changes and global warming will caused general advance moving of geography - climate zoning. They have influence to resistance of plants against winter low temperature. During global and regional warming should be open climatic barriers in the north and increase potential for plant migration process from south regions to north zones. As a reflection of those processes, there are new possibilities for applying of climatically sensitive woody plants, mainly from Mediterranean region for urban vegetation design in central Europe spaces, including Slovakia warmer climatic zone, but beside those should have invasive potential. The contribution will introduce some woody plant originated from Mediterranean zone and are successfully used for cultivation and green areas design in Slovakia.
