Abstract Full Text

Current entomological concerns for agricultural and urban environments of southern Italy.

Here we report the recent phytosanitary issues caused by conspicuous outbreaks of indigenous or exotic phytophagous insects on crop systems of Southern Italy. In particular, we focus on insects affecting soft-skinned fruits (spotted wing Drosophila), citrus (whiteflies, scales, aphids), olives (spittlebugs) and tomato (South American tomato pinworm), as well as on ornamental plants in the urban environment (red palm weevil). We then provide a brief overview on the current knowledge of their sustainable control methods.
