Molecular characterization of PCV2 in feral and domestic pigs in Sardinia [Conference poster].
The aim of this work is to establish the genetic characteristics of Porcine Circovirus Type II (PCV2) strains circulating in Sardinian swine. The molecular characterization was done on 20 positive samples collected among swine samples from all over the island. The viral DNA extracted from tissues was detected by Real time PCR. The results were compared with those previously obtained from wild boars and have showed that the predominant genotype in Sardinia is PCV2b and there are no differences between PCV2 strains circulating in swine and wild boars.
