Abstract

First report of Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 HG-I causing basal stem and root rot on Chinese chives in China.

Abstract

During 2015-16, a severe basal stem and root disease was observed on Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum) in Nei Mongol, China. Lesions on the basal stems and roots were dark brown, water-soaked and sunken. In late infection, the plants wilted and died. The causal pathogen was identified as Thanatephorus cucumeris AG-4 HG-I based on morphological, molecular and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of T. cucumeris AG-4 HG-I on Chinese chives in China.
