Abstract

First report on the occurrence of Grapevine leafroll-associated virus-4 strain 6 in Lebanon.

Abstract

During the 2015 autumn season, a survey was conducted in Ferzoul and Zahlé areas of central Bekaa (Lebanon) in 2 vineyards of red fruited grape cultivars (Red Globe, Black Pearl and Crimson) to investigate the presence of viruses that cause leafroll disease in vineyards. The occurrence of the Grapevine leafroll-associated virus-4 (GLRaV-4) strain 6 was detected based on various molecular analyses. This is thought to be the first report of GLRaV-4 strain 6 in Lebanon.
