First record of Penthaleus major (Acari: Penthaleidae) in Brazil.

Abstract

This paper reports on the discovery of the presence of a member of the mite family Penthaleidae infesting Avena strigosa plants in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2009. The pest was identified as Penthaleus major based on morphological analysis. This is thought to be the firest report of P. major on A. strigosa in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
