Abstract

This paper focuses on the geographical distribution, wild status, ornamental qualities and prevalence in cultivation in UK gadens of a beech species native to Taiwan (Fagus hayatae). Information on the importance of seed stratification and direct sowing into air pots in the successful propagation of this introduced species is also discussed.
