Abstract

First report of summer patch of Kentucky bluegrass caused by Magnaporthe poae in China.

Abstract

In July 2015, over 40 Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) turf samples exhibiting symptoms of tan irregular patches of dead turf ranging from 20 to 50 cm in diameter and discoloured roots were collected from 4 golf courses in Beijing, China. The causal pathogen was identified as Magnaporthe poae based on morphological, molecular and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of summer patch on Kentucky bluegrass caused by M. poae in China.
