Economic characters and nutrient components in the fruits of wild Rosa from Xinjiang.

Abstract

To compare interspecific difference of productivity and quality, the major economic characters and fruit nutrient component of some introduced Rosa species were measured by selecting 6 introduced Rosa species with 6-11 years old. The result shows that Rosa beggeriana Schrenk has the maximum quantity of fruit of single branch (135.4) while Rosa oxyacantha M. Bieb. has the minimum quantity (27.3). Rosa spinosissima L. var. altaica has the heaviest average single fruit weight 1.477±0.112 g while Rosa beggeriana Schrenk has the lightest 0.438±0.051 g. Rosa albertii Reg. has the maximum quantity of fruit of single stem 2 447.388±5.741 g while Rosa acicularis Lindl. has the minimum quantity 648.046±2.181 g. In terms of the content of total acid, total carbohydrate, vitamin C, amino acids, crude protein, trace elements Ca and Zn, Rosa laxa Retz. ranks in first place, and Rosa acicularis Lindl. has the most abundant total flavonoids. The biological characteristics and potential utilization value of these 6 introduced Rosa were also evaluated.
