Abstract

Seeing is believing: urban agroecological transition.

Abstract

This article highlights the role of farmers' indicators in the spread of an agroecological practice in the northern Nigerian state capital city of Kaduna. When tomato leaf miner (Tuta absoluta) destroyed most of the tomato crop two years ago, the practice of intercropping started to spread among the majority of farmers as the benefits of crop diversification became clearly visible. The farmer-to-farmer learning and uptake of this practice was underpinned by observing indicators of success on each others' farms.
