Abstract

Cultural regionalization of Camellia oleifera C. Abel. based on principal component analysis and cluster analysis.

Abstract

Effects of the main climate factors on the introduction of Camellia oleifera C. Abel. were studied by the principal component analysis and the cluster analysis based upon 38 main planting counties and 12 national bases of improved varieties from 14 provinces. The results showed that the annual average temperature, average temperature from October to November, frostless seasons, ≥10°C accumulated temperature and the extreme temperature are main factors in the introduction of Camellia oleifera C. Abel. Meanwhile, according to different climatic conditions, 50 planting areas could be divided into 4 types, namely the northern fringe area (IVA), the central area (VA1), the western area (VA2) and the southern fringe area (VIA).
