Abstract

This study aimed to examine the trees in public areas in Bom Jesus, southern Piauí, focusing on the importance of urban trees, their contribution on quality of life and maintenance of the urban ecosystem. Arranged in three different locations of the county public squares were evaluated. Data collection was conducted through random sampling. Sampling was carried out on 11 individual trees, distributed in five exotic species and six native. Were evaluated: the infrastructure of squares, species, wiring, pathways and driveways. Among all patients, the predominant species were: Inga vera (Sombrero) and Licania tomentosa (Oiti). All subjects had some degree of inadequacy, being inserted in some places with the presence of wiring, payphone and spacing of driveways wrong.
