First report of persimmon cryptic virus in Turkey.

In the early summer of 2015, extensive necrosis of the veinlets on both sides of the leaf blades were observed on several persimmon (Diospyros kaki) trees of some autochthonous cultivars growing in 2 distinct orchards in Samsun province (northern Turkey). The causal pathogen was identified as Persimmon cryptic virus (PeCV) based on various molecular analyses. This is thought to be the first report of PeCV in a country other than Italy.
