Occurrence of apple chlorotic leaf spot virus in apple and quince in Southern Iran.


During a survey conducted from April to September of 2013, in Shiraz, southern Iran, leaf samples from 2 quince trees exhibiting chlorotic leaf spots and fruit deformation and from 15 symptomless apple trees, were collected. The causal a pathogen was identified as Apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV) based on serological and molecular analyses. This is thought to be the first report of ACLSV on quinces in Iran.
