Abstract

First report of soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines) on soybean from Gansu and Ningxia China.

Abstract

During 2010 and 2014, a survey for cyst nematodes was conducted in the main soyabean-producing regions of China. Over 1000 soil samples from 16 provinces were collected, and H. glycines cysts and second-stage juveniles (J2) were extracted from soil using the sieving-decanting method. Morphological and molecular (DNA sequencing) studies of J2 and cysts confirmed the identification of H. glycines in samples from 7 cities or counties of Gansu Province (Wenxian, Yongchang, Zhangye, Tongwei, Lanzhou, Weinan, and Pan'an) and 5 cities or counties of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (Zhongning, Helan County and Luoping County, Tongxia, and Yongning City). This is thought to be the first report of H. glycines in Gansu Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
