Biomass and correlations of Festuca with high morphophysiological characters in naturalized grasslands.

Tall fescue is a perennial grass of high variability. This paper discusses the initial production of dry matter and its relationship with morphophysiological characters in the subhumid-naturalized semiarid Pampas region of Argentina. The wide range of variation of the dry matter (7.74-122.66 g/plant) showed phenotypic variation within and between populations. Populations differed in all characters (p <0.001) except dry matter, did not show a pattern defined geographical distribution and made use of different strategies to determine the initial dry matter.
