Abstract

First report of Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliense causing soft rot on potato and other vegetables in Poland.

Abstract

Bacterial isolates were collected from potato and other vegetables (sugarbeet, cabbage and marrows) showing soft rot symptoms since 1995 in Poland.Biochemical, physiological, genetic (PCR) and pathogenicity analyses revealed the causal pathogen as Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliense. This is thought to be the first report of P. carotovorum subsp. brasiliense causing soft rot on potato, sugarbeet, cabbage and marrows in Poland.
