Abstract

Introduction and cultivation of wild species from Orchidaceae within Guizhou Province.

Abstract

After introducing 38 wild species of 10 genera of Orchidaceae in Guiyang, we got that Paphiopedilum and Cymbidium had higher survival rate (ranging from 80% to 100%); The survival of Bletilla striata and B. formosana were 90% and 88% respectively; Dendrobium had lower survival rate (43%-79%); and that of Phaius tankervilleae was only 33%. Among those species introduced, the flowering rate of Dendrobium was higher (ranging from 44% to 100%); and that of Cymbidium was about 50%, but of Paphiopedilum was only between 23% and 50%. After one years cultivation, we found three kinds of pest and disease, i. e. scale insect, root rot and mosaic.
