Abstract

First isolation of the Mycosphaerella graminicola teleomorph stage causing Septoria leaf blotch on wheat in Tunisia.

Abstract

In 2013, three ascospores (A1, A2 and A3) were isolated from a durum wheat field in Mateur (north Tunisia) using a Burkard spore trap and transferred into potato dextrose agar for further studies. The ascospores were identified as Mycosphaerella graminicola based on cultural, morphological, genetic (PCR) and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of M. graminicola ascospores collected from environmental samples in Tunisia.
