Management and veterinary care of bearded dragons.
Bearded dragons are a popular captive pet in the UK. Their relatively hardy nature, unusual appearance, tolerance of handling and prolific captive breeding make them desirable and easily available lizards for reptile enthusiasts. They are commonly presented to veterinary surgeons in both exotic and general practice and can make fascinating and rewarding patients. Bearded dragons can suffer from a variety of husbandry-related and infectious diseases, some common across the reptile group, and some distinct to this species. The most common diseases are discussed.
