Abstract
First report of Phytophthora syringae on Cedrus libani in Turkey.
Abstract
In September 2011, during surveys for Phytophthora spp. in forest nurseries in Adapazari and Izmir in eastern Turkey, initial symptoms such as death of fine roots, yellowing, and wilting of Taurus cedar (Cedrus libani) seedlings were observed. The causal pathogen was isolated and identified as Phytophthora syringae based on cultural, morphological, genetic (ITS) and pathogenicity analyses. This is the first report of damage caused by P. syringae on C. libani seedlings in forest nurseries in Turkey.
