First report of root rot caused by Fusarium redolens on ginseng (Panax ginseng) in Jilin Province of China.
During surveys conducted in China, in June 2012, diseased roots showing brown lesions on the surface that expanded gradually and finally converging and causing root rot were collected from 4-year-old ginseng (cv. Damaya) from Jingyu County and Jiaohe City, Jilin Province. The causal pathogen was identified as Fusarium redolens based on morphological, genetic (ITS) and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of F. redolens causing root rot of ginseng in China.
