Abstract

Glomerella cingulata isolated from juçara (Euterpe edulis) fruits in the Mata Atlântica area in Paraty (Rio de Janeiro) and Ubatuba (Sao Paulo).

Abstract

During surveys conducted in Paraty (Rio de Janeiro) and Ubatuba (Sao Paulo) on juçara (Euterpe edulis), from February to July 2012, fruits with anthracnose symptoms were collected. The causal pathogen was identified as Glomerella cingulata based on cultural, morphological, genetic (ITS) and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of G. cingulata causing anthracnose on juçara fruits in the Atlantic forest in Brazil.
