Glomerella cingulata causing leaf spots on leaves of cinnamon in the state of Pará.

Abstract

During routine inspections carried out in the field in Belém, Pará, Brazil, the presence of cinnamon affected by injuries covering approximately 60% of the leaf area. The symptoms consisted of numerous patches of dark-brown or black lesions with lighter centres, irregular and distributed along the leaf blade. The causal pathogen was identified as Glomerella cingulata based on cultural, morphological and pathogenicity tests. This is thought to be the first report of G. cingulata infecting cinnamon in Pará, Brazil.
