Identification of two Tobacco streak virus capsid protein variants associated with leaf mottle and necrosis symptoms on Astilbe.
This paper reports the identification of two Tobacco streak virus (TSV) capsid protein (CP) sequence variants associated with leaf mottle and necrosis symptoms on Astilbe × arendsii (false spirea). This is thought to be the first confirmed report of TSV infecting Astilbe × arendsii. Only one of the variants was detected by IC-RT-PCR but both were detected from cDNAs from dsRNA template. The second CP ORF variant was only detected using a strictly nucleic acid based detection method.
