Abstract

The Aleyrodidae (Hemiptera, Sternorrhyncha) of Hainan Island, China.

Abstract

The whiteflies of Hainan (China) were presented systemically for die first time and a total of 57 species belonging to 25 genera were identified. Among them, Aleurocanthus euphorbiae Jesudasan & David, A. longispinus Quaintance & Baker, Aleuroclava tripori (Dubey & Sundararaj) and Aleurotrachelus anonae Corbett are new records for China. The morphology, host and distribution of the new recorded species were provided. Some whitefly species are known for their pest status, e. g., Aleurocanthus cilriperdus Quaintance & Baker, A. spinferus (Quaintance), A. woglumi Ashby, Akurodicus dispersus Russell, A. anonae Corbett, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius), Dialeurodes citri (Ashmead), D. kirkaldyi (Kotinsky), Dialeuropora decempuncta (Quaintance & Baker), Neomaskellia bergii (Signoret), Pealius mori (Takahashi) and Paraleyrodes pseudonaranjae Martin. Characteristics of faunal components of Aleyrodidae in Hainan were summarized, and Palaearctic-Oriental species were the most and widely distributed in Aleyrodidae, the next were Oriental species, widely distributed species.
