Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

New pests on the rise.

Abstract

This paper describes some new pests found in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in 2012: Baris coerulescens, Luperomorpha xanthodera, Halyomorpha halys, Leptoglossus occidentalis, Tuta absoluta, Aceria kuko, Platytetranychus multidigituli, Pseudococcus viburni, Phenacoccus madeirensis and Drosophila suzukii. The damage potential of these invasive species for horticulture is quite different. Some of the species found in vegetable orchards and green fruits may soon become more important. Some of them are harmless and certainly only of entomological interest, while others might develop into real pests. Continuous monitoring and supervision are suggested.
