New pests of Kesseru, Heteropanax fragrans (Roxb.) Seem a perennial host plant of eri silkworm, Samia ricini (Donovan).
During a regular monitoring of pests and diseases of kesseru (H. fragrans) in Assam, India, a new insect leafroller (Pyralidae) that resulted in 100% defoliation of 2.0% of the plants in a kesseru (accession HF002) plantation was observed. Another brown bug, Agonoscellis nubile [Agnoscelis nubilis], was also detected on kesseru. This pest is thought to have been recorded on kesseru during the summer season.
