Abstract

Vector-borne helminthoses in cattle.

Abstract

The Parafilaria, Stephanurus, Thelazia, Onchocerca and Setaria are tropical parasitic diseases affecting European cattle with varying livestock and economic impact in France. Some of these helminths had distinct clinical signs, while others are ignored or confused with other diseases due to indistinct clinical manifestations. Stephanurus infection is considered an exotic disease, but clinical cases are observed in the Eastern region. All these helminths are considered minor parasitic importance and are neglected. However, it is important to determine their prevalence as an aid in the diagnosis of affected animals.
