Abstract

First report of Cylindrocladiella parva as a grapevine pathogen in New Zealand.

Abstract

During surveys conducted in New Zealand, fungal isolates were obtained from characteristic black foot symptoms on a grapes rooted on 101-14 rootstock from Central Otago in 2005 and 10114 rootstock from a nursery in the Auckland Region in 2007 and 2008. The causal organism was identified as Cylindrocladiella parva based on morphological, genetic (rDNA) and pathogenicity tests. This is thought to be the first report of C. parva as a pathogen of grapes in New Zealand.
