Mass rearing of Pnigalio agraules as the basis for the successful management of Cameraria ohridella.

The results of field experiments conducted in Germany during 2008, 2009 and 2010 to evaluate the efficacy of P. agraules against C. ohridella on chestnut are presented. The results showed the inconsistency of the performance of the parasitoid, and the effects of biotic and abiotic factors on the level of parasitism are briefly discussed. The potential for mass rearing of P. agraules as a cheaper alternative to the proliferation of the parasitoid in the greenhouse is mentioned.
