This special issue presents papers discussed at the Proceedings of the International Workshop on the Restoration of Fish Populations, held in Duesseldorf, Germany, last 1-4 September 2009. 37 oral contributions and 19 posters were presented which covered a broad range of basic and applied research subjects dealing primarily with fish restoration.
