Abstract

This chapter gives an overview of the natural phylogeography of ungulate species in Europe as well as the effect of anthropogenic interventions on the distribution and genetic status of native ungulates. Focus is given on select examples from the Cervidae and Bovidae families in Western Europe, excluding Russia and Ukraine.
