Abstract

The new record of Trichogramma japonicum Ashmead, an egg parasitoid of Chilo suppressalis (Walker) in Jilin, China.

Abstract

Trichogramma wasps were collected using sentinel eggs of Chilo suppressalis (Walker) in rice fields. Through morphological identification of male genitalia and analysis of rDNA-ITS2 sequences, a Trichogramma species collected was identified as T. japonicum Ashmead. The results of sequence alignment of ITS2 region showed that Trichogramma sp. collected in Jilin had 99.3%-100% similarity with T. japonicum originated from Guangdong. The present work demonstrated for the first time that there are natural populations of T. japonicum parasitizing C. suppressalis in Jilin, China.
