Abstract

The friendly face of weeds: food, medicinal and ornamental uses.

Abstract

This book presents 89 weed species that are detrimental to crops, but also have beneficial uses as food, medicinal and ornamental plants. The weeds are classified into 3 chapters - typical weeds growing in fields, plantations or pastures (51 species); ruderal weeds (27 species); and occasionally invasive weeds used as ornamental plants (11 species). Information on common name, morphology, life cycle (in northeast Spain), habitat, toxicity, and potential uses (feed, food, medicinal or ornamental) is provided for each species. This book is dedicated to plant enthusiasts, both amateurs and professionals.
