Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

The status of wax scales (Hemiptera: Coccidae: Ceroplastinae) in Britain.

Abstract

Transient incursions and interceptions of nine non-native species of wax scale (Ceroplastes ceriferus (Fabricius), C. cistudiformis Cockerell, C. destructor Newstead, C. floridensis Comstock, C. japonicus Green, C. rubens Maskell, C. rusci (Linnaeus), C. sinensis Del Guercio and Vinsonia stellifera (Westwood)) have occurred in Britain. Control measures have been taken against all recent findings of live wax scales on growing plants. There are currently no species of wax scale present in Britain, either naturalised or established under artificial conditions.
