Abstract

Molecular diagnosis of fusarium rot and shaggy stipe diseases associated with the cultivation of Agaricus bisporus mushroom.

Abstract

Fusarium chlamydosporum causing fusarium rot and Mortierella alpina causing shaggy stipe diseases were recorded as new pathogens of button mushroom from India and species of both the pathogens as new records. Comparisons of nucleotide sequences of ITS regions of 5.8S rRNA gene using Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) of NCBI, USA network services confirmed the identity of the two pathogens as F. chlamydosporum and M. alpina. The ITS sequences of Gen accession numbers EF-017709 and EF-015575 assigned by the NCBI are available in public domain for comparisons.
