Abstract

Record of some Hymenopterous parasitoids of leafminer on vegetables in Kashmir Valley.

Abstract

Field and laboratory studies were conducted in 7 districts in Jammu and Kashmir (Antantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Badgam, Ganderbal, Srinagar and Pulwama), India, in 2005-06, to determine the hymenopteran parasitoids of leafminers infesting Brassica campestris, B. oleracea var. viridis, B. oleracea var. gongylodes, B. rapa, Pisum sativum and Alium cepa. A total of 7 hymenopteran parasitoid species were recorded on the leafminer, Chromatomyia horticola, on the aforementioned crops. These included 5 eulophids, i.e. Chrysocharis horticola, Diglyphus horticola, Diglyphus sp., Pediobius indicus and Euderus agromyzae, and 2 braconids, i.e. Opius sp. and Dacnusa sp. All species were new records of parasitoids of Chromatomyia horticola from the Kashmir valley.
