Susceptibility of faba bean cultivars with different tannin content to pests.
Field and laboratory experiments were conducted in Poland, from 2006 to 2008, to determine the susceptibility of faba bean cultivars with different tannin contents to insect pests. The occurrence of Sitona sp. and Bruchus rufimanus weevils on both high and low tannin faba bean cultivars was similar. However, low tannin faba bean genotypes Albus and Leo were more infected by Aphis fabae than the other cultivars. S. lineatus weevils preferred low tannin cultivars in the laboratory experiments.
