First report of garlic leaf blight caused by Botrytis porri in China.
In the spring of each year from 2007 to 2009, a leaf blight of garlic (Allium sativum) was observed in more than 50 fields in Zhushan County of Hubei Province, China. Grey mould was observed on many of the blighted garlic leaves. Based on isolation, cultural characters, molecular analysis and pathogenicity tests, the pathogen was identified and confirmed to be Botrytis porri [Botryotinia porri]. This is thought to be the first report of garlic leaf blight caused by Botrytis porri in China.
