Abstract

In 1998-2006, thrips were investigated in greenhouses and open habitats of all 10 counties of Lithuania. During the investigation period, 36 thrips species were found, and 16 of them (Aeolothrips ericae, A. fasciatus, Dendrothrips saltatrix, Haplothrips distinguendus, H. setigeriformis, Limothrips consimilis, Mycterothrips annulicornis, Sericothrips bicornis, Taeniothrips inconsequens, T. picipes, Thrips brevicornis, T. flavus, T. latiareus, T. urticae, T. viminalis and T. vulgatissimus) were recorded as new to the fauna of Lithuania. The updated list of Lithuanian Thysanoptera contains 69 species. In Lithuanian greenhouses Thrips tabaci, Frankliniella intonsa and F. occidentalis were collected most frequently, while the quarantine Thrips palmi was not found. The pest F. occidentalis inhabits only greenhouses and was recorded in 5 of the 10 investigated counties in Lithuania.
