Abstract

Remedial strategies of aphid infestation on host plant (Persea bombycina) of muga silkworm (Antheraea assama Ww.).

Abstract

The seasonal occurrence of Aphis craccivora in P. bombycina fields in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, India, during 2005-07. Temperature and sunshine hour had positive effects, whereas relative humidity and rainfall had negative effects on the aphid population build-up. The application of insecticides reduced aphid infestation by 33.90-85.45%. Imidacloprid was the most effective, followed by chlorpyriphos, monocrotophos and neem [Azadirachta indica].
