Abstract

Efficacy of insecticides to control the Colorado beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say.

Abstract

The efficacy of various insecticides against L. decemlineata on potato was evaluated in Romania in 2007. The insecticides were applied to first- and second-stage larvae. The mortality of L. decemlineata larvae at one, 2 and 7 days after insecticide application was determined. The highest degree of larval mortality was obtained with Fury 10 EC [ζ-cypermethrin] at 0.075 litre/ha and Ultracid [methidathion] 20 EC at 1.5 litre/ha. The least efficient among the treatments was Cypersan 200 EC at 0.2 litre/ha.
