Abstract

Some new host records of Hyphomycetes.

Abstract

A systematic survey of different regions, including forests of Bihar, Jharkhand and adjoining areas of West Bengal, India, was conducted to determine the incidence of fungal diseases of herbs, shrubs and trees. Altogether, 8 hyphomycetous fungi were found to cause leaf spot diseases on hosts of different angiospermic plants which were identified as new fungi records from India. These eight species were: Cladosporium herbarum (on Dracaena sp.), Alternaria citri (on Withania somnifera), Curvularia lunata [Cochliobolus lunatus] (on Withania somnifera), Fusarium oxysporum (on Bauhinia variegata), Cercospora phaeocarpa (on Bauhinia purpurea), Nigrospora sphaerica (on Nyctanthes arbor-tristis), Rhizoctonia solani (on Nyctanthes arbor-tristis) and Torula herbarum (on Dalbergia sissoo).
