Abstract

This chapter describes the morphology, life cycle, economic damage and control (using insecticides, pheromones, biological control agents, and cultural methods) of insect pests (Bactrocera oleae, Saissetia oleae, Prays oleae, Palpita unionalis, Frankliniella occidentalis, Parlatoria oleae, Hemiberlesia lataniae, Aspidiotus nerii, Phloeotribus scarabaeoides, Oxycenus maxwelli and Zeuzera pyrina); and the symptoms and control of fungal (Spilocaea (or Cycloconium) oleaginea, Verticillium dahliae, Armillaria mellea, Mycocentrospora (Cercospora) cladosporioides), bacterial (Pseudomonas syringae pv. savastanoi [Pseudomonas savastanoi]) and viral diseases of olive trees.
